US, Europe exempted from visa fee

Visitors from Europe and United States can still visit UAE for free, clarified the officials after the government announced the new visa rules on Sunday.

This includes introduction of 16 new visa categories, wherein visitors are hit with a visa-fee of Dh500 from 1st August. As per the new directives, visit visas valid for 30 days will cost Dh.500 and cannot be renewed.

Officials from the Naturalization and Residence Department (NRD) revealed that the charges will not be applicable to visitors to the UAE from countries that are already allowed to enter the Gulf state for free.

A NRD Director General, Maj. General Mohammed, confirmed “Nationalities that do not require applying for a visa will not have to do so under the new system.”

The new rules were designed to restrict job seekers from entering UAE on visit visas.
