Dubailand has announced the final design and master-plan for the first Marvel Superheroes theme park, in Dubai.
The theme park is a major anchor project at the largest tourism, leisure and entertainment destination in the world.
The project, spread across Dh.4.5million square feet will be demarcated into three districts, such as the Marvel Academy, City Centrum, and the HUB.
Three of the rides of the theme parks are already undergoing trial runs, prior installation in Dubailand.
The finalization of the design and masterplan is a significant milestone in the progress of the development, which is already generating great excitement with offsite trial runs of its three popular rides, said Mohammad Alhabbai, the CEO of Dubailand, adding that the work on the theme park is progressing on fast track.
The theme park is expected to draw about 3.5million visitors annually, and is considered a high-voltage entertainment park for the entire family to re-live their childhood memories and interact with their much-adored superhero characters.
The Marvel Superheroes theme park will house 17 rides and attractions, apart from 9 retail outlets, all on an area spreading across 30,000 square feet. It will house more than 40 food and beverage outlets, and carts merchandising light refreshments.
The groundbreaking for the project is due in the first quarter of 2009, and the park will be ready to open doors to visitors on 31st December 2012.
The project, which has been initiated by Tatweer, will further add top the diversified entertainment options in the region, and will highlight Dubai’s status as one of the most attractive tourism destinations in the world.
