Burj Dubai recognized as tallest man-made structure

The Burj Dubai tower that is under construction in the UAE, has surpassed the 629 meters KVYLY-TV mast in the US, and has become the tallest man-made structure in the world revealed its builders.

Burj Dubai has broken the 45 years record of the KVLY-TV mast in Blanchard, located in North Dakota, although it was once topped by a radio mast in Poland between 1974 and 1991, which later toppled down.

Although the developer Emaar, have kept the height of Burj Dubai, a closely guarded secreted, it is expected to reach 900meters during initial part of next year. At 160 storeys, Burj Dubai is the world’s tallest building, exceeding 508m Taipei 101 tower in Taiwan.

In the meanwhile, a business website has reported that the leading Dubai-based competitor, Nakheel, is planning the construction of a 1200meter high tower, which would surpass Burj Dubai.

Nakheel is a part of the state-owned conglomerate, Dubai World. Nakheel revealed that it is working with Woods Bagot towards materializing the project, but denied to discuss the details of the project.

“We are finalizing the design concept of the new project, involving an iconic structure, and ‘Woods Bagot’ is the consultant on this project,” said Nakheel.

In the meantime, the London-based Middle East Economic Digest reported that Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom that holds a quarter of the world’s proven oil reserves, is in the process of planning a 1600m tower in the Red Sea of Jeddah.
