IHG-Chelsea Groups sign pact to launch third Crowne Plaza hotel in Dubai

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed partnership with The Chelsea Group a part of Crimson Hotels, to develop a third Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dubai.

The Crowne Plaza at Dubai Business Bay is scheduled to open by 2010 and will be located at the heart of Business Bay.

The company, in its statement, mentioned that being located adjacent to Shaikh Zayed Road and Dubai International Financial Center, the property will be aptly situated to capitalize on the thriving corporate travel market in the city.

The hotel is likely to include 367 rooms and various dining options, apart from business and corporate facilities, which includes 500 square meters function room and further meeting rooms. Leisure travelers will get to enjoy a spa, health club, an outdoor pool and terrace.

The Chief Operating Officer, John Bamsey, IHG - Africa and Middle East says “Crimson Hotels have already proved to be a valued partner for us in the UK and we hope to continue working with them in future. With a distinguished class of business travelers arriving in UAE, and the country playing the lead in corporate travel, the Crowne Plaza brand is a reassurance of high levels of comfort and service, combined with practicality of latest amenities.”

Currently there are Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts located across 50 countries.

The Chelsea Group has recently entered the Middle East tourism market and has various hotel projects under development in Dubai. The group already shares a close relationship with IHG in UK through Crimson Hotels, due to the recent opening of Crowne Plaza Gatwick-Crawley, the first of several planned UK projects in the group, says Karim Kassam, Executive Director, Chelsea Group.
