Dubai to witness 10million tourist arrivals by 2010
The contribution of tourism sector towards Dubai GDP increased to 21 percent directly, and 31 percent indirectly last year, according to a senior government official.
As per the DTCM (Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing) Strategic Plan, we expect arrival of about 10 million tourists by 2010, and 15 million towards end of 2015, revealed the Executive Director for Media Relations, Eyad Ali Abdul Rahman, the Acting Director, Business Development, DTCM, the tourism regulatory body in Dubai.
The official revealed that DTCM plans to establish its offices in various countries and regions in a bid to draw in more tourists.
The Dubai International Airport, last year, witnessed passenger traffic of 34 million, and being the second-most favorite international airport in the world, the passenger-friendly facility is gaining world-wide recognition. These facts, further increases the number of tourist arrivals each year.
To add to this, the launch of new budget airline will enhance the accessibility of Dubai to much bigger community of tourists. The introduction of low-cost airline, together with the economic rates for hotels in Dubai, will go a long way in attracting larger numbers of tourists, making it possible even for the middle class in the world, to be able to experience the unique combination of tradition and modern concepts of luxury, said the official.
