Sharjah Hotels to be classified based on new classification law
The hotel sector in Sharjah will see a new era of progress this year, with the implementation of a new hotel classification law, which has been implemented in Sharjan from this year, effective 1st January 2008.
According to officials of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), the distribution of the classification labels for hotels and hotel apartments has been finalized already. The hotel categories range from one to five stars, while the hotel apartments range from Deluxe to standard and basic categories.
This move has been emphasized for the development of the hotel sector, which is most important for improving the tourism infrastructure in Sharjah, and will ensure that high quality services are provided within the hotel sector.
The new classification will take the hotel sector to a new era of progress to create an excellent leap in the tourist sector of the emirate. The SCTDA Director General, Al Noman, said that all hoteliers have expressed their consent to develop their services and facilities to be entitled to classification upgrade as per the SCTDA new standards.
The hoteliers have been informed about their hotel classification and SCTDA has given them deadlines to comply with relevant requirements to upgrade their standards.
