The Shahama-Saadiyat Highway to be complete by 2009

The Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) recently held a conference to discuss and showcase the milestones achieved by the Shahama Saadiyat Highway, which links Abu Dhabi Island, Shahama through Saadiyat and Yas Island.

As Abu Dhabi enters its next phase of regeneration and development, it is vital that there should be co-operation at each level to address infrastructure requirements, which the development will create.

Working together with private sector, including ALDAR, Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC) and Department of Transport, the UPC has formed a group of experts for construction of Shahama Saadiyat Highway, which will be complete in 2009.

The entire project, which is expected to cost Dh.1.83bn, is supervised by TDIC and ALDAR. The Taisei Corporation and the Six Construct Company will be leading the construction work. The design for the ten lane highway, and an incorporated bridge was done by Halcrow International.
