Richest golf tournament in the world to be held in Dubai
The developer of leading residential golf community at Jumeirah Golf Estates, the European Tour and Leisurecorp, has announced a wide-range of partnerships that will create the Dubai World Championship, the richest golf tournament in the world, with a price fund of $10,000,000.
The partnership will be operational for five years to begin with, and thereafter could be extended for next five years. This will include the formation of Dubai World Championship, an additional Bonus Pool of $10,000,000, considerable support for certain European Tour events, funding of Physio Truck by The European Tour, and construction of new International Headquarters for 'The European Tour' at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
A new global real estate company too, will be created with support from Leisurecorp, for development of new tournament venues around the world.
The inaugural Dubai World Championship will take place on the 'Fire' or 'Earth' course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, between the 19th and 22nd of November 2009. The winner of the tournament will get to take home $1,666,660 from the announced prize fund of $10,000,000.
