UAE Residence Visa requirements
As per the residency laws of the country, married expatriate men, legally living and working in the UAE are permitted to bring along, their wives to join them in the UAE.Any married man, who complies with the residency laws, is eligible to sponsor his wife. However, as per the residency laws, the Muslim expatriate men who have more than one wife, shall be permitted to sponsor only one of them for the residency visa.
The Residency visa for expatriates is usually granted for a period of one to three years, and remains valid for three years.
The salary eligibility for a sponsorship should not be less than Dh.3000 in addition to housing or a total remuneration of Dh.4000.
In case, the husband is the sole breadwinner and the wife is a dependent, he should be signing the application for submission.
In case the age of the wife is under twenty five years of age, approval of the Director General of Naturalisation and Residency department is needed.
A new wife is allowed to enter the country on a visit visa, and on arrival, the husband will have to apply for a residency visa for his wife within sixty days of arrival, else, Dh.25 per day will be imposed as fine, thereafter.
A document from consulate or embassy, proving that he is the sole supporter with attestation from foreign ministry, legal marriage certificate, etc., should accompany the application. The documents should be attested by the court, the UAE embassy in the home country, and the immigration authority.
However, once the residence visa is given for housewife, she will not be allowed to work under this visa.
