First flight between Dubai and Atlanta becomes operational
The first non-stop flight between Dubai and Atlanta (in the United States) arrived at the Dubai International Airport yesterday, with 250 passengers.
This signals the initiation of a new service by Delta Airlines, with five direct flights every week between Atlanta and the emirate. The time taken for travel between Dubai and Atlanta is fourteen hours.
The Ariline’s Senior Vice President, Tony Charaf, said "This new route to Dubai will not only serve to increase commerce and tourism between the Gulf and the United States, but will also provide our customers with convenient connections throughout the US, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean."
He added that the new service implies better travel options for both business and leisure passengers of UAE flying beyond Atlanta, in addition to providing various opportunities for cargo shippers and freight forwarders.
Charaf also mentioned "Delta is the only carrier to serve all 50 US states, and passengers can fly on to around 190 destinations including Los Angeles, Dallas, Washington, DC and Orlando as well as international destinations such as Mexico City, Bermuda and Caracas [Venezuela]".
The Boeing 777200ER of Delta Airlines is expected to fly through this new route with a passenger seat capacity of upto 268 passengers, featuring refurbished business and economy class service. All flights through this route have Arabic speaking flight attendants on-board.
