Palm Islands to host more than 200 hotels

The Palm-shaped Islands that is being developed by Nakheel, at the Dubai coast, is likely to add another 200 hotels to the already expanding hospitality sector of the emirate.

About thirty hotels, already planned, are committed to hotel developers such as The Trump International Hotel and Atlantis resort, on the Palm Jumeirah.

Palm Jebel Ali amd Palm Deira, the sister islands will include and additional 180 hotels, though the operators are yet to be decided. These hotels are expected to boost the hotel capacity in Dubai considerably.

On completion, they will add another fifty percent to the 414 serviced apartments and hotels in Dubai. The $1.2billion Atlantis, with 1500 rooms will be opening at the Palm Jumeirah by end of next year, and several others will soon follow.

While Palm Deira is expected to have a population of one million, the Dubai Waterfront and Palm Jebel Ali (linked to the island) could be occupied by millions. According to Chris O’Donnell, the Nakheel CEO, about 180 hotels between is likely to come up between the two, in addition to the thirty at Palm Jumeirah.
