Jazeera Airways launches new Dubai-Kochi service

The first private airline of the Middle East, Jazeera Airways, has launched its new Dubai-Kochi services, the latest non-stop route from Dubai. A new Airbus A320 is being operated through this route. The flights from Kuwait to Indian cities have begun since last summer and the airline has increased traffic through the Kuwait-Kochi route by 38 percent, Kuwait-Delhi route by 19 percent and Kuwait-Mumbai route by 29 percent during the year 2006 over the year 2005.

The Chairman and CEO of Jazeera, Marwan Boodi, is of the opinion that their commitment towards connecting the Indian subcontinent with the Gulf is to attract more business travelers and tourists to Kochi. He adds that they are adopting the same strategy as they did for stimulating the traffic through the Kuwait-Alexandria and other routes.

Boodi mentioned that by introducing low fares through certain routes, their customers can be more comfortable with their booking experience online, their seat selection during booking, the online opportunity to change a flight booking, and to upgrade to their premium cabin during the flight. With all this, Boodi mentions, that a new way to travel to Kochi has been introduced which could attract new travelers and more non-resident Keralites.

Boodi also emphasized that their successful performance during the year 2006, confirms that such business efforts prove to be fruitful. He added that they have broken the regular practices in the industry such as requirement of reconfirmations, overbooking, and providing seating assignments only at check-in.

“Instead, Jazeera tells its customers that their paid seat is a confirmed seat, and the customers have the liberty of choosing their seats at the time of booking rather than at check-in”, says Boodi.
