Airlines penalized for carrying passengers with forged visas
The civil aviation authorities in the emirate have penalized the Airlines that carried passengers to Dubai without genuine travel documents. About forty four job-hunters who traveled all the way from New Delhi to Dubai, were deported by the officials at the Dubai International Airport for carrying fake visas.
According to sources, the Indian carrier that carried these passengers, will be required to spill Dh.18,360 for the deported passengers. Apart from this, as said by the airline officials, they are required to pay a fine of Dh.510 per passenger for having traveled with false documents. The airline officials also mentioned that they had to arrange return tickets for nineteen passengers who had traveled on a one-way ticket to Dubai.
However, at present the airline has made it a compulsory practice for all companies to produce an original visa for approval before issuance of tickets. The Country Manager of the airline, Anand Pandey, mentioned that while twenty passengers were traveling on visit visa, the rest who were detained had duplicate employment visas with only a one-way ticket to Dubai. Now, since the airline was responsible for carrying these passengers to Dubai, they had to take care of the return journey of these passengers.
The deported passengers yesterday were taken to Foreigners Regional Registration Office on the spot, their passports were confiscated, and a travel agent from New Delhi has already been summoned for interrogation.
