Jumeirah Open Beach add more facilities
More facilities will be created at the Jumeirah Open Beach in Dubai for people to relax and enjoy, senior officials of Dubai Municipality said. One million tonnes of sand has already been spread at the open beach to extend the waterfront area.
Many projects were going on and more were in the pipeline, details of which will be soon announced to the media, they said.
The officials revealed this while announcing the participants of the seventh international summit on Coastal and Port Engineering in Developing Countries (Copedec), to be jointly organised by Dubai Municipality and the Brussels-based International Navigation Association (PIANC), from February 24 to 28, 2008.
The major maritime event is expected to bring together more than 1,000 marine engineers and scientists from developing countries. Essa Al Maidour, Assistant Director General of Dubai Municipality for General Projects Affairs and Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the conference, said the aim of PIANC-Copedec was to provide an international forum where coastal and port engineers from developing countries can exchange know-how.
The event, he said, will also consider ways of enabling developing countries to achieve a sustainable pool of professionals in these fields.
