Business Bay bridge across Dubai Creek inaugurated

A new thirteen lane bridge running over the Dubai Creek has been inaugurated by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who also inaugurated the new road network, Business Bay Crossing, in addition to the Bridge.

Located 1.5km south of Al Garhoud Bridge, in close proximity to Festival City, it will also offer a new pavement for two-wheeler travelers between Deira and Bur Dubai to Sharjah. The new crossing will smooth the heavy flow of traffic between the Shaikh Zayed Road and the Emirates Road.

Out of thirteen lanes of the bridge, about six lanes are left open partially to make way for the current traffic, and in a couple of month’s time, it will get fully functional. The creek was left without a bridge for the last thirty years.

The Business Bay Crossing is worth Dh.800 million. But in contrast to the Al Maktoum and Al Garhoud bridges, this new bridge will be open for vessels operating through the Creek. The bridge is about more than fifteen metres above water level.
