UAE ranked third best for expat living

UAE has been ranked as the third best country in the world for expats, based on a series of parameters, including lifestyle, finance, raising kids, a recent survey said.

According to HSBC Expat Explorer Survey, UAE holds the first position in the world when it comes to nicest cars being driven by expats, with at least one-third of expat workers in UAE, falling into the category of top earners, making it a lucrative move for them.

The UAE is also a good location for those looking forward to enjoy the finer aspects in life, with expats having more access to luxuries here, than average, the Expat Explorer report said.

Expats in UAE have also been rated as the highest earners. In fact, the survey reveals that UAE has been ranked 13th position in the world in terms of expat salaries, with at least one-third of expats earning more than $200,000.

UAE also ranks the fifth place in terms of luxuries enjoyed by expats, including driving nice cars, living in bigger properties, enjoying luxurious holidays, having disposable income, and better access to healthcare facilities.

Among the topmost priority for expats before relocating are, the cost of raising children, their education, quality of childcare, available in destination country.

The UAE has been faring very well on all these parameters, with the survey indicating that expat children find integration much easier than their parents. This is largely because UAE has a blend of different cultures, with over 200 nationalities living and working in the emirates, the survey points out.

However, the survey also said that the expats have been ranked at the bottom, when it comes to making friends with locals, and they do not fare well when it comes to learning local language.

The survey findings indicate that expats in UAE typically relocate for better career prospects. While UAE expats enjoy best lifestyle standards, the top two positions for this aspect in the survey goes to Singapore and Hongkong respectively.

The survey involved 3,385 expat respondents around the world, about every aspect of life abroad, including those relating to finances, political, and social factors, and the extent to which natural disasters have affected the living experience as an expat.

The Expat Explorer Survey, now into its fourth year, provided valuable insights into life of expats around the world, their living experience, and how work abroad differ fr0m one county to another.
