Dubai Shopping Festival 2014 to open on 2nd January

The 19th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) will be held on 2nd January 2014, thereby kick-starting the events calendar for 2014 in Dubai.

Being the biggest shopping extravaganza in the Middle East, DSF has helped attract 4.66million visitors during the same period last year, particularly from Saudi Arabia, Russia, India and UK.

The increased flow of tourism has had a knock-on effect for hospitality sector in Dubai, with hotels reporting growth of 4.7 percent last year, with occupancy rates hitting 90 percent.

The Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), which forms part of Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, runs the month-long shopping extravaganza.

The Chief Executive of DFRE, Laila Suhail, when announcing dates for next edition of DSF, also said that by announcing the dates for four months prior to DSF 2014, all involved in organizing the event, from retailers to hotel operators and travel agents here and overseas, will get adequate time for planning, preparing and implementing a vast line-up of high-quality events and shopping promotions.
