Tallest hotel in the world to open doors in Dubai, this year

Located near Safa Park in Dubai, the 355meter tall, JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai, will open to guests during the fourth quarter this year, surpassing the 72-storey Rose Reyhaan Rotan, which was the tallest hotel in the world, so far.

Owned and developed by the Emirates Group, Dubai’s JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, is just 26 meters shorter than the Empire State Building in New York. The hotel will grow to 82 storeys, 69 of which will include rooms and suites. Each tower will feature an executive lounge, spread across a full floor.

The hotel project was launched by President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and CEO of Emirates airline and group, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, during a press conference at the Arabian Travel Market 2005.

The project was designed by the Dubai-based design and construction consulting company, Arch Group. The twin towers, on completion, will offer 1608 guest rooms, with 25 percent suites. The towers will have combined car parking amenities, and 28 lifts.

According to General Manager of the hotel, Rupprecht Queitsch, the second tower will open a year after the first one. Each floor will have nearly 14 keys, with each standard room spread across 55 square meters.

The hotel will also bring about nearly 1200 jobs during its first phase, with more employees likely to be recruited in the second phase. Given, the close proximity of the hotel to the downtown, central business district, it caters to growing number of business visitors, particularly in the meetings, incentives, and conference and exhibition segment (MICE), Queitsch said.

This hotel in Dubai will offer more than 5000 square meters of event space, five lounges, nine restaurants, a spa, a health club and two ballrooms. The new JW Marriott Dubai will be the first JW branded property outside North America.
