Reel Cinemas - Largest Cineplex opens doors to public
Largest Cineplex in Dubai, Reel Cinemas, was unveiled last week, with more than 10,000 movie goers having already visited the place during its first week of opening.
Reel Cinemas is a joint-venture between Cathay Organization of Singapore and Dubai’s largest property developer, Emaar Properties. The Reel Cinemas is located at the Dubai Mall, one of the largest shopping malls in the world. The Cathay Organization CEO, Suhaimi Rafd, said that the movie-going experience continued to be affordable and is the favourite pastime of emirates and expatriates in Dubai, and therefore the economic downturn had not affected the business at all. In fact, the numbers were better than expected, he said.
The Cinema Complex has the capacity to accommodate about 2,900 members with 22 screens in the Cineplex. The operator has created a platinum suite to cater to those requiring a more luxurious experience.
The movie goers can relax and have drinks in a VIP lounge before or after the show. However, the tickets are four times the regular price. A concierge ushers guests into their suite, where they can sit back and enjoy the movie in sheet comfort.
The Dubai Mall, is a part of the Burj Khalifa Complex. It spreads across an area of 12million square feet and is the world’s largest shopping mall, with about 1200 retail stores there, with a capacity to draw 750,000 visitors every week. The mall also boasts about the world’s largest indoor aquarium with 33,000 species of marine animals.
