Dubai Residency Department offers better services to public

Aiming to offer better services to the public, the Dubai Residency Department has looked into cases of thousands or more people this year.

The department has offered about 191,463 services during the first half of the year, and the customer centre has seen a 7.41percent rise in the total number of cases attended to, said a senior official.

The Director, General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ahmed Al Marri, said that the staff in the center has received 206,790 phone calls, an average of 1,140 calls a day through the AMER service (the toll-free service introduced by DNRD), this year alone.

The toll free number 800 51111 launched in March 2007 aims to address public complaints, suggestions, and enquiries round-the-clock. It keeps several communication options open, apart from the toll free number, such as fax, emails, e-chat and voice mail.

Al Marri said that the e-services offered during the first six months of the year grew 16.93percent, in comparison to same period last year.

The e-chat enquiries this year grew by 3.78 percent in comparison to the second quarter last year. The e-mail enquiries also grew by 6.10 percent, in comparison to same period last year.

The AMER service also saw an increase by 66.4percent, in comparison to the second quarter of 2009. This indicates the public co-operation in reporting illegal residents via the toll free numbers 8005111 and 80080, Al Marri said.

The multi-service system can be reached by nationals, visitors and residents at the toll-free number 8005111 or 043139999, or online at amer@dnrd.ae.

The e-chat service is open at www.amer.ae from 10am to 5pm and helps people with special needs to easily forward their queries. The service helps save costs of international calls.

The voice mail service helps customers in submitting their queries while the staff is busy responding to other queries.
