Water Taxi - the latest form of public transport in Dubai
The latest form of public transport in Dubai, The Water Taxi, was launched on Wednesday by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Unlike the Abra and the Water Bus, the Water Taxi is the only marine public transport vessel which could leave the creek and navigate the waters of Arabian Gulf.
With a cruising speed of 25 knots and top speed of 35 knots, the taxi can take passengers to and from locations as far away as Al Mamzar and Jebel Ali, with longest trip taking about an hour and a half.
The Water Taxi services are mostly considered as a recreational service that caters to tourists who wish to catch a glimpse of the sites that Dubai has to offer, from the comfort of air-conditioned cabin with luxurious leather seats.
The Water Taxi has the capacity to seat 11 passengers and has 18 stations along the Dubai Creek, and other tourist spots around the emirate. It also stops at few top hotels.
To book trips, call 8009090. The fares are in the range Dh.50 to Dh.570 for the whole vessel, rather than per passenger.
