ID Card registration now takes just six minutes
Registration for ID cards is now simpler and takes just six minutes, the EIDA (Emirates Identity Authority) has announced.
The time frame has reduced from the earlier 30 minutes. The authority has permitted 24 typing offices to assist in the e-registration process.
These offices will ease the data collection and management process, and will scan the documents of applicants, collect fees and forward the information to EIDA centres.
The Deputy Chairman of Senior Management Committee, Dr. Ali Al Khuri, when speaking to the media, revealed that offices will feed applicant information as required by the authority, and collect registration fees. The applicants will then receive an SMS for an EIDA centre visit, where they can get photographed and fingerprinted.
The information will then be verified by the internal information certification office, which would also issue the ID card.
The Director of Public Relations and Marketing Department, Abdul Aziz al Mamari, mentioned that these typing offices would help reduce waiting times at these centres.
He said that offices in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain were chosen as part of the trial project. If they are successful, then Dubai and rest of northern emirates will have EIDA-related typing offices.
