Leakage of Dubai Mall Aquarium fixed

Dubai Mall, one of the largest shopping centers in the world, remained partly shut, following a leak from an aquarium containing thousands of fish and sea animals.

One of the police officials who spoke to the media, mentioned that there the leakage was due to a simple crack.

It was noticed at one of the panel joints of the Dubai Aquarium at the mall and was immediately fixed by the maintenance team, an Emaar spokesperson revealed.

The leakage did not affect the aquarium environment or safety of the aquatic animals, the Emaar statement confirmed.

The Chairman of Emaar Properties (which operates the mall), Mohammad Alabbar, mentioned that there was a technical fault in the operating device.

The Dubai Mall aquarium has been designed to contain 33,000 living creatures, which represents more than 85 species, including 400 sharks and rays.
