Quality of life in UAE rated as the best in MENA region

The UAE has been rated as the No.1 country with best quality of life in the MENA (Middle East North Africa) region in the Economist Intelligence Unit 2009 Quality of Life Index.

Globally, UAE has been ranked as the 15th in the world out of 160 countries in Quality of Life Index.

The ranking indicates the prosperity that UAE has witnessed in recent years, owing to the strategic initiatives followed by the UAE Government across all sectors, including security, economy, health and education.

The Quality of Life Index relates the subjective life satisfaction surveys to objective determinants of quality of life across 160 countries.

UAE was ranked based on its impressive civic development and administration, high gross domestic product growth, family and health care services, safety and security and life expectancy.

Although the results are satisfactory, the goal is to continue improving quality of life of citizens, Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Secretary General of Emirates Competitiveness Council, said.
