A second generation e-Dirham card has been launched to raise public service standards, to enhance efficiency, innovation and professionalism of government services.
Launched by the Director General at the Ministry of Finance, Younis Haji al Khoori, the card, also known as Blue Card, has six different coloured card options under the name Al Haselah, which means collector in UAE dialect.
The 2nd Generation e-Dirham System is one of the most convenient means of payment devised by the Ministry of Finance to facilitate the collection of general revenues of UAE through a safe payment method. It also promotes the use of plastic money and e-transfers.
The Blue Card is a pre-paid magnetic Visa Card, a rather new concept in e-payments in the UAE. But, it has proven its worth by being acceptable at more than 24million outlets across the world.
The cards will be released inline with completion of each phase of services.
The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was the first to launch the Blue Card which is twinned with Visa, issued in the name of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Finance Ministry.
NBAD is the official partner for the cards, while STS is the developer of the card system.
The Ministry also launched an e-services portal in conjunction with new electronic payment gateway for second generation e-Dirham cards. The e-services portal launched its first service, linked to Electronic Services portals of the Ministries of Environment and Water and Public Works, allowing easy payments to be made to the Ministry.
