Global Village creates record with 620,000 visitors in 10 days

The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) has enjoyed a good response from local and foreign visitors ever-since it opened doors on 28th January.

The CEO of Global Village, Saeed Ali Bin Reda, said that in 10 days time, the Global Village has recorded 620,000 visitors, and last Friday was the record-breaker, visitor numbers soared to 115,000.


Bin Reda expressed confidence that the visitor numbers to the Global Village would increase during the next few days, particularly during Fridays.


The Global Village, one of the most popular outdoor cultural entertainment and shopping destinations in Dubai, credited the DSF, as it recorded maximum number of visitors last Friday, ever-since its opening in 22nd November.


Out of the various events and establishments participating in the DSF, the Global Village and several street events such as the ones at Al Riqqa, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Al Seef, Al Riqqa and Al Dhiyafah are the most popular. Thursdays and Fridays record maximum traffic.


The visitor numbers during the event have grown by 4.6percent, touching 3.35mn compared to the 2008 edition, states a report by Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE).


DEPE has launched Discounted Travel to Dubai for DSF 2010, offering a package with value-added benefits of discounted travel and cheap hotel rates, apart from special shopping offers to visitors during the 32-day event.


The package offered is includes of discounts on tours, hotels, safaris, air fares, complimentary breakfasts and shopping vouchers.
